The valley rises gradually toward the large central fountain, which was the first to be built. An egg-shaped pool was dug around the large volcanic rocks which stood (and still stand) at the foot of the house.
A tall jet of water rises up from the centre of the pool, which lines up perfectly with the smaller jet of the fourth fountain, rising up behind and slightly above it.
The two fountains are connected by a few stone steps, which in turn are lined by tree ferns and Geranium maderense.
To the left of the steps, in a warm, exposed area facing the house, there is a collection of Brahea palms, Yucca, Aloe, and succulent plants which prefer total exposure to the sun and dry conditions.
