Another young violin and piano duo, Lucilla Rose Mariotti and Alessio Enea, will perform next weekend, June 12-13, in the Recital Hall of the Giardini La Mortella.

Violinist Lucilla Rose Mariotti, a past guest at the Walton Foundation's Chamber Music concerts, was born in 2001, but despite her young age, she boasts an impressive resume. She has performed on tour in Australia as a soloist at Winthrop Hall in Perth, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane, the Sydney Opera House, and with major orchestras in the Americas; in Venezuela with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra; in Europe with Maxim Vengerov and the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall; in the USA at the Weill Recital Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York; at the Teatro La Fenice and Teatro alla Scala; and throughout Europe in prestigious halls and theaters. A winner of numerous international competitions, Lucilla won First Prize and the Audience Award at the Violins & Soul Music Competition during the Amadeus Festival in Vienna (2023), receiving a prestigious 1709 Stradivarius violin on loan from the Goh Family Collection for two years. In 2023, she was awarded the Daniele Gay Award. She is also a Peace and Prosperity Trust Emerging Artist.
In 2025, she performed for Their Majesties King Charles III and the Queen Consort at Highgrove House, in an event organized by the Italian Embassy in the United Kingdom. She has participated in major international festivals and received scholarships to attend IMS Prussia Cove in Cornwall and the Keshet Eilon Mastercourse in Altea, Spain. Her performances have been broadcast on Vatican Radio, Czech Radio, Venice Classic Radio, and Radio 3. She earned a Master of Performance and an Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music in London, with the support of Help Musicians, the Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust, and the Boise Scholarship 2023. She also continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover, with the support of the Förderkreis der HMTMH. Lucilla currently plays a 1690 Giovanni Grancino violin from Milan, kindly loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.

Pianist Alessio Enea, a finalist in the prestigious national "Premio Venezia" competition, has performed at the Teatro La Fenice, the Sale Apolinee in Venice, the MAC in Milan, Turin, the Teatro Politeama in Palermo, the LAC in Lugano, Switzerland, Mantua, Padua, and the Wigmore Hall in London in 2022. He was awarded a Lyra Foundation scholarship, which supported his studies and brought him to perform in various venues in Switzerland. After masterclasses with Homero Francesch at the Lenk Summer Academy in Switzerland and with Vladimir Ashkenazy in Catania, he attended masterclasses with M. Yanouchevsky, P. Bermann, K. Sahatchi, M. Quarta, and S. Sasaki. He graduated with honors in Lugano and completed his Master of Music in Performance with D. Alexeev at the Royal College of Music in London, where he is the recipient of the Charles Napper Award and the Gary & Eleanor Brass Scholarship. In 2025, he released his first album, Orchid Classics, with Lucilla Rose Mariotti, performing new Italian, French, and English repertoire. He collaborates with the Royal College of Music in London as a visiting chamber music teacher and accompanist, and performs throughout Europe. His upcoming engagements include a fall tour of the US, visiting Italian embassies.

The programs that Lucilla and Alessio will offer audiences at La Mortella are varied, and include compositions by little-known musicians of the late 19th century, such as the Neapolitan Alfredo D'Ambrosio, author of numerous brilliant violin pieces that were widely read at the time but are rarely performed today. The program will also feature major 20th-century composers such as Prokofiev and Debussy.
