The "Città di Procida" Music Band, conducted by Francesco Trio, will open the new edition of the Youth Orchestra Festival on June 25th at the Greek Theatre in the La Mortella Gardens.

Banda Musicale Citta di ProcidaCittà di Procida Music Band. A choice with strong symbolic value: opening the season with a band means paying homage to one of our country's most authentic and deeply rooted musical traditions, based on participation, collective memory, and the transmission of knowledge between generations. A world that Sir William Walton regarded with particular interest, recognizing its fundamental cultural and educational role.
Over the years, the Youth Orchestra Festival has welcomed a wide variety of groups, including some important bands, beginning in July 2008 with the Delianuova Youth Wind Orchestra, a group that attracted the attention of Maestro Riccardo Muti, who had publicly emphasized the educational value and importance of musical bands in the Italian music scene.

The presence of the "Città di Procida" Band is therefore part of this tradition, but today it also takes on a special significance: that of strengthening the dialogue between La Mortella and the surrounding communities, reaffirming the desire to make the Festival increasingly open, participatory, and close to the local community.

The "Amici della Musica" Cultural Association, from which the "Città di Procida" Band was born, was founded in 1982 thanks to the passion of a group of Procidians who wanted to keep alive the memory of the historic island band of the 1940s and 1950s. Since then, through the daily work of volunteers, teachers, and musicians, the band has become a point of reference for the community, offering young people a concrete opportunity for personal and artistic growth.
Entirely self-funded, the Procida Band combines its concert activity with an intense commitment to education: from music school to preparatory courses for children, from the Procida Junior Band to projects carried out with local schools. An ongoing effort that has allowed generations of young people to embrace music through values such as discipline, collaboration, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging.
Over the years, the band has participated in the most important national and international festivals and competitions, receiving prestigious awards and unanimous praise from audiences and critics. Yet, beyond the prizes, the most significant achievement remains its ability to transform musical practice into a tool for social cohesion and community building.
Since 2002, the artistic and educational direction of the band has been entrusted to Francesco Trio, under whose guidance the band has consolidated its growth and the quality of its performances.

The June 25th event will therefore be much more than an inaugural concert: it will be a celebration open to all, an opportunity to bring the Festival ever closer to its local community and to share, together with residents and visitors, the values of participation, inclusion, and beauty that have always inspired the mission of the William Walton Foundation and the La Mortella Gardens.

An invitation to the entire island community and its guests to celebrate the beginning of a new summer of music together.

Admission to the concert is free, subject to availability.

Reservations are required at the Giardini La Mortella ticket office or by calling +39 081-986220.

The public will be admitted starting at 7:30 PM.
