As part of the Youth Orchestra Festival currently underway at the Teatro Greco in the Giardini La Mortella, the Bentivoglio Youth Symphony Orchestra (Bologna), conducted by Emiliano Bernagozzi, will perform on Thursday, July 2nd.
BenTiVoglio Youth Orchestra: "In music, we grow together": this is the spirit with which the Bentivoglio Orchestra presents itself at the Festival, bringing to the stage a project that combines passion, commitment, and professionalism.
The orchestra was born within the Orchestral Training Laboratory promoted by the "Il Temporale" music school in Bentivoglio, a historic municipality near Bologna, thanks to the collaboration between the school's teachers and musicians with recognized artistic and teaching experience. Composed of approximately forty young musicians aged thirteen and above, the orchestra has already received significant recognition, including victory at the 2016 Rossini International Competition in Pesaro. That same year, it embarked on a tour of the Czech Republic, followed in 2017 by a concert experience in Irpinia, culminating in a performance of Vivaldi's Gloria at the Royal Palace of Caserta.
The orchestra will be led by Emiliano Bernagozzi, an internationally renowned musician active as a flutist and ocarini. He has collaborated with major Italian musical institutions, including the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Orchestra dell'Emilia-Romagna "Arturo Toscanini," the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma, and numerous other prestigious ensembles. Throughout his career, he has worked under the direction of great maestros such as Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Chailly, Giuseppe Sinopoli, and Ennio Morricone, sharing the stage with artists of the caliber of Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, Mariella Devia, Andrea Bocelli, and Salvatore Accardo.
The program is a true musical journey through different eras and musical languages. It will range from the overwhelming energy of Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2 to the great soundtracks of international cinema—The Neverending Story, The Mask of Zorro, The Man in the Iron Mask—to brilliant and captivating works such as Bug's Bunny's Greatest Hits, Rocky Broadway, and Go West. Between intensely emotional moments, such as "What a Wonderful World," and great orchestral classics such as the celebrated Radetzky March and Johann Strauss's "Thunder and Lightning," the solemn atmosphere of William Walton's famous "Coronation March" will not be missing, in a fitting tribute to the "master of the house" and, above all, to the memory of Lady Walton on the occasion of the centenary of her birth. Ultimately, this program celebrates the joy of making music as a shared celebration. The young musicians of the Bentivoglio Orchestra approach the stage with enthusiasm and awareness: experiencing music as an opportunity for growth, encounter, and beauty is at the heart of their artistic experience.
