Tribute on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Lady Walton.

2026 marks the centenary of the birth of Lady Susana Walton, a woman of extraordinary charisma, patron, creative soul and guardian of one of the most enchanting places in the Mediterranean: the La Mortella Gardens in Forio.

To celebrate one hundred years since Lady Walton's birth, the William Walton Foundation has promoted a major commemorative project: an entire year of events, which will take place between Italy and England, dedicated to the memory, art and cultural legacy of a woman who was able to leave her mark on both the world of nature and that of music.

Susana was known for her highly personal style, her wit and vivacity, and her love of colour and beautiful things in all their forms. To celebrate her centenary, we asked some of her favourite designers to share their personal memories of her.
