The Walton Foundation's chamber music concert season resumes after the summer break at the La Mortella Gardens. The concerts on the opening weekend of September 5-6 will feature the Liszt Trio, composed of violinist Elia Chiesa, cellist Luigi Visco, and pianist Christian De Luca.
The Liszt Trio was formed in 2024 by three young musicians who studied at some of the world's most prestigious institutions (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Juilliard School in New York, Accademia Stauffer in Cremona, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Hochschule der Künste in Bern, Hochschule für Musik in Munich) and are currently pursuing advanced studies with P. Maurizzi, the Trio di Parma, and P. Jüdt. In 2026, the Trio established itself internationally with Third Prize at the International Stasys Vainiūnas Chamber Music Competition in Vilnius and the Grand Prix at the Dragon Competition, which will take the ensemble on tour to China in 2027.
The Trio's members have performed in some of Europe's most important concert halls, including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Flagey in Brussels, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Sala Verdi in Milan, and the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York. They have participated in major festivals (Società del Quartetto di Milano, Bologna Festival, Lingotto Musica, Philharmonie de Paris) and have won major international awards, including the Franco Abbiati Italian Critics' Prize, the Orpheus Prize in Switzerland, and the Paolo Borciani Competition.
The Liszt Trio will present completely different programmes to the audience at La Mortella in the two concerts, ranging from 18th-century Haydn to important masterpieces of the Romantic period by Schubert, Schumann and Dvorak, all the way to compositions by the contemporary German musician Wolfgang Rihm..
