The sixth edition of "Dialoghi d’autunno" (Autumn Dialogues), a concert series organized in collaboration with the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, kicks off next weekend, September 19–20. Performing in the Recital Hall at Giardini la Mortella will be the duo comprising cellist Monica Righini and pianist Ivan Maliboshka. Both are young musicians with impressive backgrounds, actively engaged in busy concert schedules as both soloists and chamber musicians.

The Righini-Maliboshka duo was formed in 2021 at the Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza, following the valuable advice of several faculty members. They honed their skills with the Klimt Quartet at the Livorno Chamber Music Festival—winning a scholarship in the process—and in 2023, they took first prize at the Alberghini Competition and the "Val Tidone" International Competition, while also reaching the finals of the "Amici della Musica di Verona" award. In 2024, they won first prize at the "Giulio Rospigliosi" International Chamber Music Competition. The duo maintains an active concert schedule, appearing in major chamber music series and festivals, and in 2025, they released a CD with the Da Vinci Publishing label.

The program the Righini-Maliboshka duo will present at La Mortella features major sonatas by Brahms and Prokofiev. Specifically, they will perform Johannes Brahms’s Sonata Op. 38; completed in 1865, this composition is characterized by themes of great beauty and nobility—expressive, melancholic, yet heroic—allowing the cello to showcase its full expressive range in an intense dialogue with the piano.
