Concert October 24 and 25, 2026, 5:00 PM. Cello quartet

An ensemble that is rarely heard and possesses great charm, will take center stage at the upcoming concerts on October 24th and 25th at Giardini La Mortella. We will have the pleasure of welcoming the Stauffer Cello Quartet, a group consisting of four young, passionate Italian cellists Giada Moretti, Christiana Coppola, Mattia Midrio, and Alessandro Sacchetti, all born between 2004 and 2007. Each member is a recipient of numerous national and international first prizes, as well as various scholarships.

The quartet has studied under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Meneses and, currently, Maestro Frans Helmerson. Their development was further shaped at the Accademia Stauffer through a workshop with Maestro Giovanni Sollima, where they explored the full potential of a cello ensemble, aiming to showcase the instrument's infinite qualities. In 2025, they made a highly successful debut at the Trieste Festival for the Società dei Concerti. Subsequently, they performed at the Museo del Violino in Cremona, playing four exquisite instruments that won the "Antonio Stradivari" International Violin Making Competition and have since appeared for many other prestigious institutions. They have also performed live for RAI Radio 3, broadcast from the "Stanza della Musica".

The program they will present to the audience at La Mortella is highly varied, spanning from the Romantic era to the contemporary, highlighting the versatility and expressive range of the cello across different eras, styles, and musical languages.
